Leyna & Joey | Backyard Elopement
This year has been anything but ordinary. Weddings alone have been their own storm of changes as our couples have learned to stay flexible and pivot at a moments notice. We photographed one wedding back in February before the pandemic hit and forced all of our 2020 couples to change and cancel wedding plans they'd been looking forward to for months, if not years. We're so glad our couples have taken to the changes with such strides, remembering the most important part of this all- that they love each other and are building a life with a partner in marriage. One such couple we were lucky enough to still capture this year, Leyna & Joey, decided to marry this summer with two people in attendance and a whole slew of guests via zoom. It was a beautiful day, full of all the emotions. They kept many traditions alive as they got ready separately, even hiding Leyna behind a door when Joey was near so he wouldn't see her. Their sweet ceremony was full of personal touches like thoughtful vows, a rose exchange, and the biggest cheers coming from the computer after the first kiss. They included their virtual guests in a cake cutting (that Leyna had made herself!) and champagne toast while cuddling their new fur baby, who'd traveled with them by car from the east coast.Congratulations Leyna & Joey! We are so happy for you two and hope this day will go down as one of the greatest memories in your journey together as partners in life. Thank you for having us along! ~Erik & Marissa
