Italy | The Ciccarellis
We honestly feel that travel makes us better people. When you get the opportunity to learn about others, a new way of life, see history with your own eyes, and get out of your comfort zone there is no doubt you grow as a person. Our big adventure this year was to Italy (we've been dreaming about this place for about 4 years and finally had the funds and opportunity to take the plunge). The food alone made this trip bolt to the top of our favorites list, but we cannot omit the fact that life there was just peaceful, full of old world charm, and a moment in our lives we will never forget. The first stop: VeniceOur first Italian espresso...Stop 2: Vernazza, Cinque TerreStop 3: FlorenceWhat's missing? (answer: skyscrapers) Seeing an entire ancient city was incredible. This photo of The David doesn't do it justice. You have to see this in person to realize it's magnificence.Do you see all those tiny people at the top? We hiked the hundreds of stairs between two domes to see that view too!Stop 4: SienaAlthough we barely took any photos, Siena gave us both the best authentic feeling of Italy as we walked the tiny cobbled streets, sunbathed in the square with students and locals, and attended a street fair as it became dark. We would return here again and again if we could, pure heaven.Stop 5: RomeThe VaticanInside St. Peter's at the Vatican was packed with statues, gold, artwork, and people. One of the most impressive churches we've ever seen hands down. The Vatican from atop the dome of St. Peter's.Where the animals and trainers roamed during the years of battles in the colosseum. It was pitch dark with the floor on top, not to mention no air ventilation. The Pantheon, one of our favorite spots of the entire trip. There's something about this area of Rome that's hard to describe. The food, the energy and wonderful people watching.Just a basic sandwich we would have for lunch. Meat, cheese, tomato and bread. Sooooo good. Yes, we bought a selfie stick with two days remaining on our trip.Ciao, until next time Italy. Thanks for reading about our adventure! ~ The Ciccarellis
