Jessica & John - Engagement | Volunteer Park

When we first met Jessica (John was absent from the crazily-packed-full-of-women bridal show) we knew that we had to be a part of her wedding. She is such a warm, friendly, outgoing person- the kind that gravitates others toward her because of her positiveness. We knew John would be great and weren't disappointed when we met him and saw how he grounds Jessica and makes her laugh (reminding us so much of our own roles in our relationship!). We also figured this Volunteer Park engagement session was going to be full of laughs, which it was! Jessica was strictly concerned about the two of them making faces, which she said they tend to do in every picture together. Well, we definitely couldn't resist catching a few, but mostly these two were all smiles!

Jessica & John are such a sweet couple, but even sweeter is how John proposed! Jessica's family vacations on Orcas Island every year and of course John came along. He had the whole thing planned. They hiked up to an amazing viewpoint and John said he brought a camera with a timer that he wanted to use. Out came the camera, it was set up on a bench and then John knelt and popped the question right as the timer on the camera went off! Jessica was shocked, overjoyed, and of course said "yes!" to her new fiancé. We absolutely cannot wait to be there for the wedding next September! ~Erik & Marissa

We enlisted Jessica's competitive nature to capture many of the shots in this set, but specifically when they had a leaf fight!

This is one way John makes Jessica laugh...faces, although at first she seems unamused he successfully makes her smile in the end!
