Coss Family in the "Studio" | Seattle Newborn Photographer

What do you do when your baby is born during a pandemic, but you still want to document his tininess? You take that newborn session outdoors! But what happens if the only day that works for that photo session also happens to have hurricane winds and rain? Your photographer turns her garage into an open air studio.I'm so glad I've known this family for 2 years now and they trusted me enough with this crazy idea. On the day of their session (literally the only day that could work) rain was forecasted and even though we'd planned an outdoor shoot because of their comfort with the pandemic, it didn't look like we'd be able to do that and stay dry. So with 20 minutes to go until their session (we'd been waiting out the weather to see if it truly was going to rain) I had them come over, threw open the barn doors of our garage, constructed our white backdrop normally reserved for headshots, turned on the heater and voila! There was even a 10 minute window with no rain when we dashed down the driveway to the sidewalk in front of our neighbors house, which happened to have these beautiful yellow leaves. We took a few outdoor shots before the rain started back up and ran back to the "studio" to finish up. It was a whirlwind, but totally worked!We first met this adorable family when their oldest was a newborn! We've done milestone photos to capture all her changes growing up every 6 months, which lined up perfectly with her brother's birth. Way to go mom and dad!
