Avé & Skylar | Discovery Park Elopement

If we've learned anything from 2020 it's that we have a lot to learn. One thing we're working on is finding the silver lining (and trying to explain that saying to our oldest). Our couples have all been finding ways to see that lining and be flexible, from changing wedding dates and venues to having two dates or staying local. We're constantly impressed by those who continue to stay positive and see the good in these confusing times.

One such couple is near and dear to our hearts, Marissa's brother and his fiancé Avé. They experienced all the ups and downs of an ever-changing world as they tried again and again to plan a wedding that made sense for them and their families near and far. There were definitely tears and lots of talks about what might or might not happen. In the end, they decided on an elopement for now and it couldn't have turned out more perfect!There were 6 of us who woke up before the sun, met at Discovery Park, and hiked down to the beach with the few items we needed to capture the ceremony and celebrate afterwards (you better believe champagne and croissants made it in the bag). We timed it for low tide (and some pretty lighting of course) and were happily surprised by a huge sand spit and practically no one around. The sun was shining, an eagle flew back and forth overhead, a seal came to watch, and two of the most special people to us made a beautiful promise to one another, while family watched from their homes via Skype.

Avé tied in her Hawaiian upbringing with traditional florals and we kept feeling like she couldn't have gotten much closer to having that dream Hawaiian beach wedding than this! Thus, that silver lining shows itself again on this special morning.Avé and Skylar, we obviously couldn't be happier for you two. We know you went through a lot to get to this point, but wow, what a gorgeous memory we will have forever, watching you two marry this way. xoxo ~Erik & Marissa
